Marble

Marble is a carbonate decorative stone with natural colors and patterns. It has good workability and is easy to cut, grind, and carve, making it suitable for producing large slabs, tiles, odd-shaped pieces, and carvings for public buildings, home decoration, and furniture. Common uses include wall and floor cladding, countertops, columns, commemorative structures (cenotaphs, monuments), and decorative arts such as lamps and vessels.

Marble's veining is its main aesthetic feature, and with a polished finish it has a brighter luster and a more elegant appearance. Marble names and classifications vary by origin, color, or veining, so material selection should be based on grain and pattern, composition, physical properties, and actual samples. Marble has relatively high compressive strength and stable physico‑chemical properties, but is softer and less wear‑resistant than granite and is more sensitive to acids.
